Dear Co+op Member/Owners,
Your Board of Directors is pleased to announce that after a national search, it has hired a new general manager. Scott Brelsford will begin in his new role no later than September 1, 2015 and says he is “very excited and has lots of ideas”.
Scott has worked as the general manager of the Moonflower Community Cooperative in Moab, Utah, and the People’s Grocery cooperative in Manhattan, Kansas. Scott is a co-op enthusiast, and under his leadership, Moonflower Co-op increased member ownership by 25 percent; the People’s Co-op saw a turnaround in sales and income. The Board is confident that Scott’s management skills will contribute to strengthening the Los Alamos Co+op and prepare it for future challenges while staying true to cooperative principles.
The Board would also like to express its gratitude to Triny Vigil, the Co+op’s interim general manager, for his countless hours of hard work. He has worked well with the Board and the management team, improved the deli, and increased employee morale. At times, he has worn three hats: general manager, meat and cheese manager, and deli cook. Triny and Scott will be working closely together to ensure a smooth transition. As Scott becomes familiar with store operations, Triny will resume his position as the meat and cheese manager. Please stop by the Co+op and let Triny know how much you appreciate him.
