Movie Night at the Co-op to Benefit Local Trail Advocacy

A new action sport documentary, Strength in Numbers is a rally call to connect all mountain bikers, regardless of location or language or discipline. The film captures a true way of life, from the world's best pros to those who are just learning to love the sport. Shot over two years in some of mountain biking's most iconic locations, Anthill's signature style [the production company for this film] combines compelling stories with core action to create a shared experience that unites all riders.

Viewed at a distance, the world of mountain biking is a disjointed network of seemingly similar but disconnected communities. Freeride. Downhill. Big Mountain. All Mountain. Dirt Jump. Slopestyle. A sport of individuals, equally defined by their many differences, as the common threads that bind. And while our story doesn't follow a straight line, we all end up in the same place. Tire to ground, foot to pedal, hand to bar - communities drawn together by trails of dirt.

Come join us at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 31st when the Los Alamos Singletrack Association presents the Los Alamos premiere of Strength in Numbers at the LA Co-op Market. A fundraiser for the club, the movie will be shown on the lawn (weather permitting) for $10/adult, $5/under 18, and free/5 and under. Come out early and have a picnic on the lawn with other cycling enthusiasts. Be sure to drop off bicycles and other bicycle parts for the 2nd Annual Bike Swap to be held the following morning at the Co-op from 8AM-Noon.

Second Annual Los Alamos Singletrack Association/Los Alamos Co-op Market Bike Swap!

 Saturday June 1st

The second annual Los Alamos Singletrack Association/Los Alamos Co-op Bike Swap will be held this year on Saturday June 1 from 8AM (sharp) to Noon. The improvements this year include inside, centralized check-out using cash, check or charge, drop off of bikes and parts starting Thursday May 30, and quicker pay-outs.

As last year, we will have an area to test ride both mountain and road bikes (helmets required), a mechanic on hand to assist riders, experts to assist in bike fit questions, and of course great Co-op deli food and drinks, music and surprises!

Bring all ages and interests-last year's Bike Swap was a huge success and folks raved about the awesome deals! I should know-I got an awesome deal on a bike!

Co-op Values & Principles
Stronger Together

Co-ops are based on values not unlike those we subscribe to individually, including self-responsibility, democracy, equality, honesty and social responsibility.

In addition to these common values, seven basic principles serve as guidelines to provide a democratic structure for co-ops around the world. While adoption of these principles is not required, most co-ops choose to adopt them for their business.

The seven principles are:

1. Voluntary and open membership

2. Democratic member control

Decision making

3. Member economic participation

4. Autonomy and independence

Special Practices

5. Education, training and information

6. Cooperation among cooperatives

7. Concern for community

Volunteer Opportunity: Gardening Coordinator

We are currently looking for someone to be the Volunteer Coordinator for our raised bed hoop houses located in our parking lot. These beds are used to grow produce for use in our deli. If you are interested, please email Sandra ( As a volunteer, the Volunteer Gardening Coordinator will earn an 18% discount card for each hour worked.
Coming Soon: A New Look

As member of a cooperative business that links over 100 food co-ops (the National Cooperative Grocer's Association, NCGA), we will be the first co-op to implement a new co+brand. This change will allow us to further utilize the resources available from NCGA as well as set a standard for the "co-op experience," which will help give a clear message for food co-ops and bring awareness to the cooperative business model. The re-brand incorporates the "co+op" symbol from NCGA and add our community character through the name, tagline, and aspen leaf image. The re-brand will include a new website as well as re-designing our current signage.

Thank you for supporting your local co-op!
